Prepare a piece-by-piece equipment list
Record packed length, width, height and gross weight for every unit. Identify removable or separately packed components, and provide available drawings and lifting information for review. State whether the cargo can move under its own power or needs loading assistance. Avoid combining dissimilar machines into a single average dimension; equipment suitability depends on the individual pieces.
Connect transport planning with site access
Describe the approach to the site, gate restrictions, receiving hours and the planned unloading location. Identify who arranges cranes or other lifting equipment and whether an appointment is already agreed. The team needs to review the proposed access and handling before confirming vehicle selection. A preliminary quote is not a route survey or approval of a lifting operation.
Coordinate delivery sequence and port handover
For a port-to-site movement, identify the port, expected cargo availability and the party arranging release. Distinguish an expected arrival from goods that are ready for collection. Where several units must arrive in construction order, provide that sequence and any limits on site storage. Ask the quotation to separate transport, port handling, waiting and other requested activities.
Frequently asked questions
Can I choose a lowbed using only total weight?
Weight alone is insufficient. The team also needs dimensions, loading method, route and site conditions to review the appropriate equipment. Any proposed special-transport arrangements must be confirmed for the actual movement.
What if the site cannot receive all units together?
Send the required delivery order, receiving windows and available storage space. Request a review of staged deliveries and any intermediate handling, and make sure those stages are included in the agreed scope.
